Turn the Temperature Into Support

It’s cold across the country right now, and this weekend, South Florida is feeling it too.

With strong winds, freeze warnings, and wind chills dropping into the teens and 20s, this unusual Florida cold weather is a reminder that preparedness and community safety matter year-round. During moments like this, education and awareness are just as important as history and preservation.

That’s why we’re turning this cold snap into a simple, community-powered way to support the Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum and its mission of fire safety education, preservation, and outreach.

Donate Your Temperature

This seasonal temperature donation fundraiser is easy to join and makes a real impact:

  • Check the current temperature or wind chill where you are
  • Donate that dollar amount, or any amount that feels right
  • Every dollar supports fire safety education in Florida, museum preservation, and community outreach programs

Small gifts add up quickly, and community support helps ensure that fire safety knowledge and local fire history remain accessible for future generations.

Florida Cold Weather Examples

Not sure how it works? Here are a few Florida-specific examples:

  • 28° in South Florida? Donate $28
  • Wind chill feels like 18°? Donate $18
  • Mid-20s overnight temperatures? Every degree counts

While freezing conditions are rare here, cold weather safety in Florida is especially important when homes, plumbing, and people aren’t built for extended cold exposure.

Supporting Fire Safety and Community Outreach

As a nonprofit museum in Fort Lauderdale, the Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department while also promoting community fire safety education throughout South Florida. Fundraisers like this help us continue sharing life-saving knowledge, historical artifacts, and educational resources with the public.

Everyone Is Invited

If you’re somewhere warmer right now, you’re still invited to participate. Donate what feels right and help turn a cold weekend into something meaningful. Whether it’s a few dollars or more, your support helps strengthen community outreach and fire safety education across South Florida.

Thank you for supporting the Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum, one degree at a time.
